12 Step Drawing of the Face and head

1. Draw the ear. Break into the form of the ear - Get the shape and the angle of the ear. After place the form shadows to the ear.

2. Draw the hair. From the top of the ears draw the movement of the hair and hair twists and pulls. The frame of the hair will carry you into the eyebrows.

3. Draw the eyebrows. Draw the shape of the eyebrows and how it relates to the movement of the hair above the ears. The eyebrows will then carry you into the eyes, helping you to get the spacing and the size of the eyes.

4. Draw the eyes. The eyes are balls so draw the skin of the eyes wrapping around a ball. Remember to get the thickness of the skin. This idea will help you to understand and draw the eyes in any angle that it is seen. Draw the eyes with angels. The eyelashes will come off of the eyes.

5. Measure in the nose. A-Is the distance from eyes to end of the bridge of the nose. B-Is the distance from the corner of the eyes to the top of the nostril. C-Is the length of the nostril. Articulate the specific shape of the nose.

6. Draw the mouth. The mouth is angled and is never a straight line. Break into the form of the mouth.

7. Draw the chin.

8.Draw the forehead and in articulation as the nose.

9. Draw the hairline or connection of hair to show wrapping around the form of the head.

10. Draw the jawline and the sternal cleido mastoid.

11. Draw the the back of the head after measuring the distance from the ear to the back of the head.

12. Draft the angle of the head and draw the hair. Look for the action of the hair. Leave the center of the hair. Show the volume by bunching up the hair on the edge and by letting the hair wrap the inside of the volume.

For rendering with the light remember the tubes aspect and the cloth practice.
